Some people don't deserve animals, and my compassion fatigue is HIGH in this video because this entire encounter was draining and upsetting for us. Yesterday, the owner said things to me on the phone that had me upset for the rest of the day. This morning, the intake ended with Nancy very upset (I don't know if I can talk about this mornings encounter online.) Pickle deserves so much more than he has had, and I'm so glad he is OFFICIALLY back in our care. We will get him the proper vet care that he needs and once he is healthy, we will find him a forever home with a LOVING family. This is Muffin, and we need your help to address a new medical issue that Muffin is going through. Right now, we owe $500 for her last round of testing that resulted in the discovery of lumps along her mammary glands. We aren’t sure what’s next in this journey until she gets further testing done after the 4th of July weekend, but we are looking to raise $3000 to be able to provide Muffin with whatever she needs next: further testing, more medication, and maybe even a $1000 surgery. After decompressing over the holiday weekend, Pickle is doing well! He spent so much time with our volunteers (@Kelly McKinstry) husband yesterday, and has come more and more out of his shell! We’re working on getting him scheduled at the vet to get up to date on his shots, get a full exam done, and we’re going to do a urine analysis to see why he was going outside the box. Muffin's journey with our cat rescue began in December 2023, a heartbreaking tale of abandonment. Her previous owners left her behind in their empty apartment after an eviction. For over five days, she was believed to be alone, without food, water, a litter box, or even a bed, until the apartment complex discovered her. Coming to us was her chance to learn to trust humans again. Since she didn't get along with other cats, Muffin lived in her own multi-level cage, waiting for a forever home. She was available for adoption until recently, when we noticed she wasn't feeling well. A few weeks ago, Muffin stopped eating and using the litter box. A vet visit, including an overnight stay and numerous tests, revealed tumors on her mammary glands. Without a complex, life-saving surgery, we knew she wouldn't survive. This week, Muffin underwent a four-hour operation to remove the tumors and all of her mammary glands, and to reconstruct her urethra, hoping to give her a second chance. This morning, Muffin passed away peacefully in her sleep, with our vet by her side. Fate brought her to us in 2023, allowing us to fight for her when she needed it most this year. We are profoundly grateful for the incredible outpouring of support and donations that made Muffin's surgery possible. Your generosity gave her a chance at a second life, and we can't thank you enough for making such a significant difference. While our hearts are heavy, we find solace in knowing she's now free from pain at the Rainbow Bridge. We'll never forget you, Muffin. Rest peacefully.

Let’s Catch Up! While I took a surprise hiatus for the past two weeks, the rescue kept going without me! We have a double adoption on the horizon, a new plan for the upcoming great cat movement, cutie babies in foster care (and some new ones you’ve never seen,) Hakeem got fully vetted and is ready to go up online, a new issue with our washer and dryer & Nancy went AWOL and emptied out the storage room (giving me an anxiety attack.)
